Crispy Brussels with Harissa Honey Mustard

Writer's picture: HONEYIBAKEDHONEYIBAKED

A great snack or side. We know them, we love them. Crispy brussels!

You’ll need:

  • 1 package Brussels sprouts

  • 1-2 tablespoons avocado oil

  • salt, pepper

  • onion powder

  • Cajun seasoning (like tony chechere’s)

  • paprika

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Harissa Honey Mustard

  • 2 tablespoons mayo

  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • 2 teaspoons Harrissa

  • 2 teaspoons champagne vinegar

  • salt + pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the butts off of the Brussels then cut them in halves or quarters depending on how large they are. Add them into a mixing bowl and drizzle with avocado oil. Mix it up so they’re all coated. Add in the spices - I just give a generous sprinkle of each one. Brown sugar is important because it counteracts the bitterness of brussel sprouts, you can replace it with a teaspoon or so of honey. Again mix everything up!

  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and once its hot add in about half of the Brussels - this depends on the size of your skillet but you don’t want to overcrowd the pan or it will create steam and they’ll get soggy instead of crispy. Let them sit for two minutes then flip, sit for another 2 minutes then flip again, until all the sides are browned and crispy. You could also use an air fryer but I don’t have one anymore so I don’t have good instructions there.

  3. While the Brussels are cooking, mix the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.

  4. Serve together and enjoy!
