Making tortillas really isn't a ton of work but it is a ton of fun. You can play around with size, thickness and even flavoring by adding some spices.
You'll need
1 cup flour
1 cup Masa Harina (corn flour)
1 cup warm water
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Whisk together the flours, baking powder, and salt.
Heat water and pour into a mixing bowl. Add the flour and mix until a dough forms. Use your discretion here because different brands/ flours will hold water differently. If it's sticking to your hands add a little more flour (like a tablespoon) if it's too dry and not holding a shape, add a tablespoon of water. Kneed and re-assess.
Let the dough sit, covered, for 15 minutes then pull apart and form into 1.5 - 2'' balls. Pat each ball with a little bit of flour and use a tortilla press or rolling pin to flatten into tortillas! Dust them with flour to prevent from sticking together.
Spray a tiny bit of oil into a skillet, heat on medium, cook tortillas for 30 seconds on each side, remove, stack and cover.
